Features of Islamic Faith, Practice and Spirituality and Their BalanceIslam brought a new concept and ideal of religion. He is the fountainhead of all values and ideals. He is the omnipotent, the omniscient, the infinite, the one and indivisible God, who has no partner, son or compeer. He is the Creator, the Sustainer, the Giver and the Evolver of everything that constitutes the cosmos (J. Jurji, 2003, 75). Allah Himself provided Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him) all the knowledge to preach Muslims. According to Islamic faith, Allah is one and Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him) is His Prophet. According to Quran, “It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces to the East and the West; but righ teous is he who believeth in Allah and the last day and the angels and the scripture and the Prophets; and giveth his wealth, for love of Him, to kins folk and to orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and to those who ask, and to set slaves free; and observeth proper worship and payeth the poor due (Zakat). And those who keep their treaty (or promise) when they make one, and the patient in tribulation and adversity and time of stress. ” (2:17)There are five pillars of Islam, which can also be called as practices that the Muslims are asked to perform as compulsions. They are Shahadah: It is the declaration that no one should be worshipped except Allah and Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him) is his messenger. Salah: The Muslims should pray to Allah five times a day. Muslims are asked to fast from dawn to dusk during the month of Ramadan. Hajj: Hajj m eans Pilgrimage. Muslims are asked to perform Hajj if they are capable to, once in their lifetime. During the month of Zil-Hajj, Muslims reach Mecca for Hajj. The scripture of Islam, the Quran, is not a collection of dogmas, but a code of life. It is not voluminous treatise on theism, but a social, penal, commercial, civil, military, judicial, international and yet a religious code, which regulates everything that a human being has to do for its welfare from the cradle to the grave (Shipp, 1999, 65). Though it provides for every contingency of human affairs, it is wonderfully laconic. It is the masterpiece of Arabic language and is extolled through out the world for the simple grandeur of its diction, the chaste elegance of its style and the variety and magnificence of its imageries (King, 2000, 119). The three basic unities on which the entire structure of the Quranic message may be said to have been founded areTauhid-i-Ummah: Oneness of the nationality and mankind. Increasing in plant growth mean decreasing in the price of food. It also means there will be enough food for everyone and we are going to solve one of the biggest problems which is world hunger. Ending of world hunger means less skinny people will be seen in the world. I have always dreamed to live next to the beach, now with the global warming, my dream will come true. The rise of ocean level due to the melting of icebergs will make the beach closer to home, especially because I live far from the beach. This is a great benefit not only for me, but for everyone that lives far from the beach. Every morning, opening the windows, looking at a beautiful view of the beach, this is marvelous. Without icebergs in the way, the Arctic Ocean would be completely open, creating a new trade route from the Atlantic to Asia. Traveling tickets are always expensive in summer, but global warming could make fall and winter warmer, which means people will not need to travel only in summer and traveling tickets are less expensive. People who have houses next to the beach will have an increase of property value. All that will boom the economy, so there will be no more poor countries. James Morrison In 1768, west of Philadelphia there was a man named Cornish McManus. He was in a gunsmith business. He was thirty-five years old and had been an apprentice and then an assistant to a master gunsmith, his name was John Waynewright. Cornish was a good artist. While the time working for John Waynewright Cornish never got to do anything special to the rifles. Later on Cornish opened his own business. He was doing well. One day a customer came in with his daughter. It was love at first sight. They eventually got married. She was pregnant with a baby. That meant he had to work harder to support them. One day Cornish saw this peace of wood in his pile. As soon as he saw it he thought of making a sweet rifle. A sweet rifle is a rifle that looks so artistic and shoots so accurate. He spent months and months on it. He would stay up all night in the candle light just to do it. That is part of the reasons it took him so long. Finally he was done. He went outside and shot at a log three times. He went down and checked the log. There was only one hole in the log. He thought to himself, that is impossible. He checked it again and there was three bullets in one hole. He was getting low on money and supplies. So he was forced to sell the rifle. He sold it to a guy named John Byam. Byam set off into the woods. He met up with British soldiers. They were just going to hang a man when Byam shot one of the soldiers. When the horse the man was sitting on heard the shot and ran out from underneath the man. The man died. The soldiers shot at him. One of them hit his horse. So he grabbed the sattle and got on his carrying horse. They went about a mile and came to a ravine. Cornish's horse made it cause it was so strong. The britishes horse's all fell and broke there legs. Cornish met up with these green coated men. they surrounded him. They were good guys. They were called McNary's Rangers. They asked him if he wanted to join them. Byam decided he would join there group, so he fought for them for a couple of years. In one of the battles he grew sick, then he eventually died. This women bought the rifle for her two sons that were in the war. As it turned out, the next thing she heard was that her sons both died in the war. she put in her attack. About two-hundred years later a man found it. He worked at a gas station. One day a man pulled up and saw it. The man ended up a collector of guns. He traded an Elvis picture for the Rifle. The man put the rifle on his wall. At Christmas time a kid next door was putting up things on the tree. There was a candle next to the rifle on the wall. Nobody throught after all those years to checked if the rifle was loaded, it was. The candle hit the dried up gun powder and made the rifle shoot. It went through the window of the house and through the window of the house the boy was in. It went right for his head. It hit him in the head. Before he hit the ground he was dead. The boy's mom killed herself because she was so depressed. His dad through the rifle over a bridge. A guy saw him and snagged it with a fishing rod. The dad later died in a car accident. The color change runs from purple to blue to green to orange-yellow and finally to clear. Color Change Chameleon Materials For this demonstration, you start by preparing two separate solutions: Solution A 2 mg potassium permanganate500 ml distilled water Dissolve a small amount of potassium permanganate into water. The amount isnt critical, but dont use too much or else the solution will be too deeply colored to see the color changes. Use distilled water rather than tap water to avoid problems caused by salts in tap water that affect water pH and can interfere with the reaction. The solution should be a deep purple color. Solution B 6 g sugar (sucrose)10 g sodium hydroxide (NaOH)750 ml distilled water Dissolve the sugar and sodium hydroxide in the water. The reaction between sodium hydroxide and water is exothermic, so expect some heat to be produced. This will be a clear solution. Make the Chameleon Change Colors When youre ready to start the demonstration, all you need to do is mix the two solutions together. Youll get the most dramatic effect if you swirl the mixture together to thoroughly combine the reactants. Upon mixing, the purple of the potassium permanganate solution immediately changes to blue. It changes to green fairly quickly, but it takes a few minutes for the next color change to pale orange-yellow, as manganese dioxide (MnO2) precipitates. If you let the solution sit long enough, the manganese dioxide will sink to the bottom of the flask, leaving you with a clear liquid. Chemical Chameleon Redox Reaction The color changes are the result oxidation and reduction or a redox reaction. The potassium permanganate is reduced (gains electrons), while the sugar is oxidized (loses electrons). This occurs in two steps. First, the permanangate ion (purple in solution) is reduced to form the manganate ion (green in solution): MnO4- e- → MnO42- As the reaction is proceeding, both the purple permanganate and green manganate are present, blending together to produce a solution that appears blue.
